Patient Satisfaction Survey 2015

Aug 19 2015

Thank you to all our patients who completed the survey in June this year.

The purpose of the survey is to find out what patients think about the quality of care received, so that the service can be improved further.

The survey uses the NZ version of the General Practice Assessment Questionnaire (GPAQ) developed by the National Primary Care Research and Development Centre, University of Manchester, UK. The questions related to the level of satisfaction with Receptions, GPs and Nurses. The results were collated by Compass Health and compared with those of other practices within the Compass Health PHO and also against the national benchmark.

We are delighted to report that for the most part, our patients are very satisfied with the care they receive at Peninsula Medical Centre, with no “poor” or “very poor” responses to any of the questions.

We are not complacent however, and mindful that we can always do better.

We are aware that our patients cannot always see their own GP on a given day, but we endeavour to make “on the day” appointments available with another GP. Phoning through to speak with a doctor is an issue for some respondents. We are mindful that patients would prefer direct contact with their doctor to answer their questions. However, this can cause delays for those with booked appointments. We ask that you speak with a nurse who will discuss your concerns with your doctor and hopefully find a solution in a timely manner.

You will find a suggestion box in our Waiting Room throughout the year, for any comments, suggestions or concerns that you might have. We welcome the value your opinion, so please feel free to use it.

Thank you.

Shared Care Record is live

Feb 09 2015

From 7 April 2014, a summary of your health records will be immediately available to hospital clinicians, afterhours GPs and general practice GPs, as the electronic Shared Care Record is launched in Wellington, Porirua, the Kapiti Coast and the Hutt Valley.

The Shared Care Record lets authorised health care providers, such as after hours GPs and hospital doctors, access a summary of information from your GP.

Information like your test results, medical conditions, allergies and prescribed medications will be shared. The information will be available at any time, even if our medical practice is closed.

The information is stored securely in New Zealand and all access to the information is recorded and routinely audited.

You can choose to withhold some or all of your information. However, if you choose to withhold your information, health professionals involved in your care, for example in an emergency or after hours situation, may not immediately have information available and this could delay appropriate treatment and mean additional tests are needed.

If you don’t wish other health providers to have access to your Shared Care Record, you can opt-out by calling us on 0800 727 664, telling your GP, or sending a letter to the freepost address below:
